You’re probably wondering what Cowabunga Weekend is. Well the short answer is: I made it up.

Cowabunga weekend (the first weekend in June) is a celebration of the 90s. You know, back when there were no smartphones, algorithms, AI, or high speed internet competing for our attention. It was the golden age for Saturday morning cartoons, movies, action figures, gaming, and the best (and strangest) food the 20th century had to offer. A simpler time, when people hung out with each other in person and actually went outside from time to time.

In honour of that time, I’m throwing a party and streaming from 8:00am to midnight. As always, 100% of money raised goes to Sick Kids hospital. It’s going to be a full day of retro couch gaming (just like the old days), and indulging in some iconic 90s delicacies (that have survived the test of time).

You’re invited!

Tune in at extralife.dzamage.ca on June 6th (you can also catch me on Twitch and YouTube), hang out in the chat (and have your 90s snacks ready to consume), and (most importantly) donate to help kids and their families at Sick Kids hospital! Thanks to donations like yours, we’ve raised almost $21,000 overall. Radical!

Anyway, I hope to see you in the stream,
and remember, “forgiveness is divine but never pay full price for late pizza.”

Cowabunga!

So it’s that special time after Christmas where the euphoria of the holidays has worn off, you’re unsure what day of the week it is, and you’ve come to the same conclusion you do every year at this time: I gotta stop eating like this.
So it’s that special time after Christmas where the euphoria of the holidays has worn off, you’re unsure what day of the week it is, and you’ve come to the same conclusion you do every year at this time:

I gotta stop eating like this.
This is the year I get healthy!

Whatever that means. There’s only one thing standing in your way. Your house is stuffed full of all the leftovers, snacks, and various treatsie-wheetsies from Christmas. What is a fledgling healthy person like you to do with all this temptation around you?

Enter “Snack Weekend”

Years ago I formally declared the first weekend after New Years as “Snack Weekend.” That is the weekend dedicated to eating all of the unhealthy snacks in your house that way you can be healthy for the rest of the year. Also, due to the nature of snack weekend there’s an added bonus: after eating all the unhealthy snacks in your house, you won’t want to even look at another snack again (or for at least a month).

There you go, a nice clean slate to start your resolutions on. Free from the tyranny of holiday treats.

Happy Snack Weekend you filthy animals…

And a happy new year.
